Application Software Control is a feature of StarSoftComm's remote management and control solution, it allows IT personnel proactively control and restrict employees from running unauthorized software using robust policy setting features, increases efficiency and productivity of employees, simplify IT management complexity, optimize IT management and service quality, ensuring proactive-ness and consistency of corporation's IT strategy.

Function description

With flexible control mechanism and management policy, IT administrator will solve the problem of employees running unauthorized application software once and for all, helping corporation to improve productivity and management efficiency. It has following features:


Complete control of application software
There are two aspects of application software control, one is to permit execution of certain sets of software, and the other is to prevent software from execution. Only software permitted by IT administrator can be executed normally. execution request of a software will be rejected if employee initiates execution of software in the prevention list.

Flexible control policy
Depends on different environment, IT personnel can configure control policy based on time period, e.g. only allow afternoon, after office hour or non-working days to run certain group of software, like IM, games and other non-work related software. It also allows setting up policy based on department and treatment for each type of software within a policy is also configurable.

Comprehensive database policy management
In actual operation, system provides hundreds of IM, games software information in most environments. In addition, new software list can be added by IT administrator based on actual requirements and policies of pre-loaded software are configurable. When a policy is activated, the client program in user's PC will automatically obtain latest control policy from server, monitor software execution of user and intervene if necessary.

Flexible policy control
Every policy can include one or more software prevented from execution. Administrator can apply common policy for uniform control or selectively control specific software within the policy. In addition, it is also possible to control based on department or group by users based on work functions, as well as control by time period.

Auto discover software information
When IT administrator adding software for control, system will auto search related information of that software, e.g. product name, version number, publisher etc. administrator does not have to do individual searching, improves productivity.
